Jamaica U19s Beat Guyana to Win 1st Regional Match

Jamaica registered their first victory in this season’s West Indies Rising Stars Men’s under 19 Championships, beating Guyana by 5 runs at Conaree Sports Club, on Wednesday.

Jamaicans were bowled out for 260 inside 47 overs.

Captain Brian Barnes 68, Pajay Nelson 40 and Vitel Lawes 42 led the batting.

Parmeshwar Ram and Gol-charran Chulai took 2-wickets each.

In reply, Guyana were dismissed for 255 in 50 overs.

Romeo Deonarine made 55, Ramo-persaud Ramnauth 39, Sachin Balgobin 32 and captain Jonathan Lange 32.

Kev’Aundre Virgo starred for Jamaica with the ball with four wickets and Barnes picked up 2.

The Jamaicans who lost their first two games to the Unites States and the Windward Islands will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Barbabdos.

Meanwhile the women’s under 19 tournament continues on Thursday with Jamaica fresh from their opening game victory over Guyana, meeting the Leeward Islands at Couva.
