Jamaicans Urged to Stay Safe on Roads as Election Campaign Intensifies

Transport Minister, Daryl Vaz, is calling on Jamaicans to exercise caution on the nation’s roads as the election campaign intensifies.

Election campaigns in Jamaica have typically been characterised by extensive motorcades.

Minister Vaz is urging the leadership of the two main political parties to ensure their supporters abide by the rules of the road.

Two hundred and thirty-six persons have been killed in two hundred and five fatal crashes as at August 8 this year.

Motorcyclists make up the bulk of the fatality figure, with 64 killed so far this year.
