Jayds is turning up the temperature in dancehall once again, premiering his sultry new single Spotlight on Friday — a fiery, female-focused track that dives head-first into relationship chaos, romantic tension, and emotional tug-of-war. Sampling Jennifer Hudson’s hit of the same name, the multi-talented producer and artiste uses the record to explore the messy pull of attraction and the drama that comes with it, marking his third release of 2025 and another bold statement from the rising star.
Produced by GreyHut Productions and distributed by Hapilos Entertainment, Spotlight sees Jayds narrating a heated scenario driven by jealousy, pressure, and the expectations of a partner who wants more than he’s willing to give. “The creation and inspiration behind the track was just to give my female fans a sample of what’s to come on the forthcoming Wet Dreams EP,” he told Prism Marketing Consultants, revealing that the snippet previewed earlier this month sparked overwhelming demand from women for an official release. Despite that tease, Jayds clarified the song is a standalone single — not part of a wider project — adding to the intrigue surrounding the upcoming EP.
Meanwhile, his earlier 2025 drops, A Wah and Beast, continue their steady climb across digital platforms. Beast in particular is edging closer to the coveted million-view milestone on YouTube, currently sitting above 902,000 views as its streaming momentum grows week by week. The track’s gritty appeal and strong visual performance have helped cement Jayds as one of the more consistent voices emerging from the genre’s new wave.
Beyond singles, Jayds is also gearing up for the release of his Beast EP — executively produced by Haunted Music and distributed by 21st Hapilos — which he promises will deliver “a breath of fresh air” through new cadences, experimental flows, and more dynamic storytelling. With contributions from heavyweight producers including One Time, 9 Miles Records, Cashflow Rinse, and Gerusalem Music, fans can expect themes of loyalty, ambition, street reality, and friendship woven throughout the tracklist.
With Spotlight already generating conversation, and both Wet Dreams and the Beast EP on the horizon, Jayds looks set to keep his foot on the gas as he pushes deeper into dancehall’s competitive frontline.
