Director of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, John Butler, believes both businesses and consumers will benefit from announcements made by Fayval Williams in her budget presentation.
He was speaking on Nationwide at Five.
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness announced the cut in the general consumption tax on electricity bills last November, during the Jamaica Labour Party’s annual conference. It is set to take effect on May 1.
And the abolition of income tax for all individuals earning up to $2 million will be done on a phased basis over the next three years.
Mr. Butler also welcomed Finance Minister Fayval Williams’s announcement of a Micro Market for the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
