JCF High Command Says Police Voting Proceeding Smoothly

The High Command of the JCF says despite logistical concerns raised, the administrative process for today’s special voting exercise for its members has been adequate and is proceeding in an orderly manner.

On Thursday, the Opposition stated in a release that it was concerned about what it described as anomalies in the arrangements for the special voting.

It said it had received reports that polling stations for police personnel assigned to non-geographic formations such as the Chaplaincy Unit and the National Intelligence Bureau were changed to Kingston.

But in a statement on Friday, the high command says the issues were addressed and there is no cause for alarm.

It said very few formations had been affected, and within those, only a small number of members were impacted.

It noted that this includes formations headquartered in Kingston, but with branches outside of the corporate area.

The high command said it has ensured that the affected members were given the full time, and the necessary support, to cast their ballots.
