The Jiuquan Iron and Steel Company, JISCO in Nain, St Elizabeth, is to start the process to reopen its doors by year’s end.
That’s according to mining minister, Floyd Green.
Hundreds of workers were left jobless when JISCO Alpart closed its doors in 2019. The closure was to facilitate an expansion programme.
Minister Green says the company will invest over US$400 million in phase one of a two-phase project aimed at getting the plant to produce up to 2 million tonnes of alumina.
