Councillor for the Craig Head division in North East Manchester, Omar Miller, is to be commended for standing down his bid to represent the constituency in the next general election.
So says Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, general secretary, Dr. Horace Chang.
North East Manchester is represented in parliament by veteran member of parliament, Audley Shaw. The self-styled ‘Man-A-Yaad’, who has served for 31 years, had endorsed Miller as his replacement.
Principal of Holmwood Technical High School, Hidran McKulsky, had also thrown his hat into the ring. But on Tuesday, the JLP introduced Senator Audrey Marks to party workers in Christiana.
Party leader and prime minister, Dr Andrew Holness, posted a photo on social media in which he was seen joining hands with Senator Marks and Councillor Miller.
Dr Chang says Senator Marks will have the full support of both McKulsky and Councillor Miller.
