President of the Jamaica Olympic Association, Christopher Samuda, praises World Netball’s decision to reduce their World Cup Cycle from every four year to every two.
World Netball says the change was made because of the uncertainty around the Commonwealth Games.
Netball has been an official Commonwealth Games sport since 1998 and has relied on the event to showcase the sport to a wider audience.
Samuda’s believes netball’s global governing body’s assumption that the Commonwealth Games is in danger may be considered by some to be a bit impulsive.
He says with several new sports vying for an Olympic presence and a viable take on the sponsorship dollar many sports are now in self survival mode.
