President of the Jamaica Olympic Association, Christopher Samuda says they welcome the historic decision as part of the traditional values which the sport embodies.
He says it is a part of the DNA in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
Samuda says the decision acknowledges the growing understanding that the global appeal and sustainability of games reside in strategic treatment of broadcast rights and fan engagement.
