The Jamaica Progressive Party, JPP, says it expects to have 60 prospective candidates nominated on Monday.

General Secretary Robert Rainford spoke with our news centre on Friday.

JPP is the fourth registered political party set to contest September 3 general election.

It has joined forces with Jamaica First Movement, launched by prominent clergyman, Al Miller, earlier this month.

Rainford says he hopes the alliance will broaden the organization’s reach.

Meanwhile, the Jamaica First Movement, JFM, is calling on church leaders to mobilise their congregations to support its move to contest the upcoming general election.

The movement has declared that there is now a practical, value-based framework to achieve the very changes for which the faith community has been praying.

JFM was established as a special purpose vehicle to form a one-term government based on the principle of national unity.

It says it will tackle systemic corruption, division, and moral decay.

In a statement on Friday, JFM says the principle of unity is already bearing fruit, as demonstrated by the alliance with the JPP.
