It’s a rare occurrence in Belize’s court systems, but today, a visit to the crime scene was ordered in the Elmer Nah triple murder case. This morning, around 11 o’clock, the magistrate, the accused, and his attorney drove from the High Court in Belize City and visited three areas in Belmopan: all of which are pivotal pieces in the court proceeding. The first location that was visited was the crime scene of the gruesome triple murder that claimed the lives of Jon, David, and Vivian Ramnarace. At the scene, the crown interviewed Officer Jerome Middleton, a witness, about key details of the case. According to reports, on New Years Eve, 2022, while preparing for a New Years Party, a lone gunman entered the yard and opened fire on the Ramnaraces, killing Jon and David instantly, and left Vivian with injuries which she succumbed to some fifteen days later. A few days after the shooting, Elmer Nah was arrested and charged. Following Middleton’s statements, the convoy made its second stop at Nah’s residence, where the crown interviewed Middleton again, as well as Ephephania Caliz, the wife of Nah, who demonstrated the areas they testified about in court. After these visits, the convoy made its way to Wei Li Shop, a well-known store located next to Nah’s home. At their last stop, Officer Middleton pointed out three security cameras, which might have captured video evidence of the crime. Following this, the convoy made its way to the Belmopan Magistrate’s court where the trial resumed. Not long after returning, the Magistrate adjourned the trial for tomorrow, at the request of the Defense. The trial is expected at 8:00am sharp, in Belize City.
