Over 60 of Jamaica’s best junior athletes will undergo performance testing by sports scientists from the RedBull Athlete Performance Center this weekend.
These tests are key to a robust injury-free strategy and will give the athletes and their coaches very important feedback as they continue to develop.
The test include hamstring imbalance assessment, leg power and strength; muscle size and strength asymmetry.
Each athlete will get a one-page report to take back to their coach.
The tests will be conducted at Technique Lab, on Saturday morning as part of a Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association training camp, from June 13-15 for under-18 and under-20 athletes.
Over 110 athletes were selected for the programme based on their performances so far this season.
Invitations were sent to the athletes and their personal coaches, and over 60 of them have indicated an interest to attend.
The sports scientists will also do a presentation to coaches on the benefits of these types of tests.
