Defending boys champions Kingston College have taken the early lead at the 115th ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships at the National Stadium.
The have 14 points after one completed final on day two with St. Elizabeth Tech second on 7 points and Excelsior third with 6 points.
K.C secured first and fourth in the class two boys Long Jump with Amani Phillips taking Gold with a leap of 7.15m, his team-mate Omarian Miller just missed the podium with a best of 6.84m
Second in the event went to Rodeeki Walters of Steths with 7.09m and third Michael Graham of Excelsior 7.02m
Meanwhile Jamelia Young of Clarendon College won the first gold medal on the girls side after taking victory in the class two girls shot put final.
Young won with 13.65m, ahead of Bethany Thomas of Wolmers 13.19m and Jada Francis of Immaculate 13.03.
Clarendon are leaders of the girls standings with 11 points followed by Wolmers 7 and third Immaculate Conception 6 points.
In the 100m semi-finals the brilliant Sabrina Dockery in class one with 11.20 seconds.
Adalia Simpson of Holmwood leads the the qualifiers into tonight’s class four girls final after winning her semi-finals in 12.18 seconds.
Shannia Campbell of St. Jago topped the qualifiers in class three winning her semi-final in 11.66 seconds.
On the boys side the outstanding St. Jago man Jevaney Findlay breezed to 10.72 seconds to register the fastest time in class three semi-finals.
Among class two girls it was Shanoya Douglas of Muschette who was the fastest, clocking 11.53 seconds.
Earlier the 400m semi-finals highlighted the morning session on day two.
Defending champions Abigail Campbell of Hydel was supreme in winning her semi-final in 53.30 seconds, the fastest time going into the final
Edwin Allen’s Kellyann Carr who’s expected to provide Campbell with her main challenge, was also comfortable in winning her semi-final in 53-point-94 seconds.
in the class-1 boys semifinals, Jabari Matheson has the fastest time going into the final after winning semi-final-3 in 46-point-54 seconds.
Defending champion Marcinho Rose of Kingston College eased into the class 1 boys final after winning his semi-final in 46.80 seconds.
Hydel Athletes, Natassia Fletcher and Sashana Johnson clocked the two fastest times in the semi-finals of the class-2 girls’ 400-metres.
Johnson posted 53-point-97 seconds to win semi-final-2, while Fletcher won semi-final-3 in 53-point-08 seconds.
Rusea’s High’s Tiene Barrett is the fastest qualifier going into the class-3 final with 49-point-98 seconds.
17-finals are on the schedule for today including the 100m all classes boys and girls.
