Keller United Methodist Church Provides Free Eye Care Services in Belize City

Residents of Belize City received free eye care services today as a volunteer optical mission team from Keller United Methodist Church in Texas hosted an eye clinic at the Samuel Haynes Institute of Excellence. The mission team arrived here in Belize with the goal of improving access to proper vision care for individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford eye examinations or prescription glasses. Throughout the day, patients underwent vision screenings, eye examinations, and were fitted for eyeglasses where needed. One of the volunteers Julie Sizemore says the mission trip is part of the church’s commitment to serving communities through healthcare outreach and humanitarian assistance.

The objective of the clinic is to identify vision problems early, provide corrective eyewear, and help improve the quality of life for Belizeans by ensuring better access to essential eye care services. The initiative also seeks to support students, working adults, and senior citizens whose daily activities may be affected by uncorrected vision issues. Similar vision outreach programs have proven effective in helping individuals perform better in school, at work, and in everyday life by restoring clear sight and promoting overall eye health.  The eye clinic forms part of the team’s broader mission efforts in Belize, combining faith-based service with practical assistance to communities in need
