Khris Rosado Pleads Guilty in Fatal Crash That Killed Police Constable

Belize City businessman Khris Rosado has pleaded guilty in the High Court to causing death by careless conduct in connection with the fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of Police Constable Arsenio Cus nearly ten months ago.  Rosado, the owner of the popular Thirsty Thursday establishment, appeared before Justice Derick Sylvester today where he formally entered the guilty plea. He is scheduled to return to court on June 30, when he will be sentenced or fined.  The conviction stems from a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on July 28, 2025, along the Philip Goldson Highway near the Haulover Bridge. Police Constable Arsenio Cus, a thirty-eight-year-old officer of Silver Creek Village, was riding his motorcycle toward Belize City when, according to investigators, a vehicle entered his lane and collided with him.  Cus sustained severe injuries and was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination concluded that he died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries consistent with a road traffic accident.  Rosado was initially charged with several offences, including manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention, failure to stop and render aid, and failure to report an accident. He was arraigned in November of last year and later granted bail.  Following a Preliminary Inquiry earlier this year, the matter was sent up to the High Court. While Rosado had originally been committed to stand trial on a charge of manslaughter by negligence, he was ultimately indicted on the lesser offence of causing death by careless conduct.  In court today, Rosado accepted responsibility for the offence by entering a guilty plea, avoiding the need for a full trial. The court is expected to hear mitigation and sentencing submissions when the matter returns on June 30.
