Kingston CC Starts Senior Cup Defense with Win

Captain of Kingston Cricket Club Akim Fraser says it was important his team made a winning start to their title defense in the JCA Michael Holding Senior Cup which bowled off this past weekend.

The Tigers were impressive in dismissing Boys Town CC by an innings and 4 runs at Sabina Park.

KCC made 284 for 6 declared, on the back of an unbeaten 56 from Fraser, Nicoli McKenzie 50 not out and Javaughn Buchanan 43 against Dawit Morgan 4-wickets.

In reply, Boys Town made 139 for 9, with Shaquille Greenwood retiring hurt on 53.

Asked to follow on, Boys Town were bowled out for 141 in their second innings, with Stephan Pink top scoring with 64 not out.

Patrick Harty picked up 5-wickets and 7 in the match.

Fraser says given the competitive nature of the group, they were always targeting Boys Town for full points

Fraser says they are not worried about being the target of every team in the competition.

Meanwhile, last year’s beaten finalist, JDF who are in the same group with Kingston CC, also got off to a strong start beating St. Thomas by an Innings and 128-runs.

Final scores, 388 for 6 declared, St. Thomas 141 and 119 .

Other winners on the day include, Clarendon, Kensington, St. Mary, St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, And Melbourne.
