Dancehall artiste Kiprich is amped about the enthusiastic response to his latest single, Get Things, a high-tempo, Poco-influenced jam highlighting the entitlement of women who glorify wealth and materialism in romantic relationships.
Kiprich said the virality of the song on social media shows the power of attraction through material possessions.
“Woman fi get things,” Kiprich, whose real name is Marlon Plunkett, said, laughing.
“It ah gwaan good, a lot of people are using the sound on TikTok and making their own videos. Over 1,000 people have used the sound and put it on their platforms, IG, and dem a share it all over, the top ballers and the females love it.”
The Get Things single also features the vocals of emerging artiste and social media personality Kizzy Don; and was released officially by Johnny Wonder Productions.
Kiprich explained the song was inspired by an interaction while he was streaming on TikTok live, while simultaneously doing a dubplate on the Blood and Fire rhythm in a studio.
“While doing the dubplate, Kizzy was in the studio sleeping and she woke up and said ‘Da riddim ya sound like a song fi de pon it for the woman dem’. Then Kizzy say again: ‘Why you don’t do a song say woman fi get tings?’,” he explained.
Kiprich added that the fans on the TikTok live made a major contributor to the lyrics of the song.
“I was on the TikTok live straight through the conversation. I started the song while I was on the live ... she did her verse and the fans gave me suggestions, so ah TikTok live created this song,” he said.
Last week, the The Letter singer shocked his female fans when he announced his desire, on his social media page, to marry his fellow artiste, Kizzy Don. Further, Kiprich shared a video of himself and Kizzy sleeping in bed with the caption, “POV: The best feeling ever.”
Despite the accusations that their relationship is just a publicity stunt, Kiprich and Kizzy have continued to appear in each other’s content on social media, and wedding bells may be in the future of these two lovebirds.
“We nuh plan a date yet but is my fiancée,” he said.
