What began as an underground slow-burn in 2013 has matured into a defining career milestone for Kranium. Nobody Has To Know, the song that first introduced the Jamaican singer to a global audience, has officially been certified Gold in the United Kingdom, more than a decade after its release and long after it reshaped his career trajectory.
As reported by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the single was awarded Brit Certified Gold on Friday, January 16, after surpassing 400,000 units sold in the UK, as tracked by The Official Charts Company. The achievement marks a major leap from its Silver certification in 2021 and underscores the track’s enduring appeal across generations of listeners. Produced by Lamar “LMR Pro” Reynolds, the smooth, melodic cut became a sleeper hit, eventually landing Kranium a major-label deal with Atlantic Records.
The song’s success opened doors quickly. A high-profile remix featuring Ty Dolla $ign followed, paving the way for Kranium’s debut album Rumors, which also housed fan favourites like Lifestyle and the title track. The singer has since been candid about the intense pressure that came with such an explosive breakout, admitting the song’s dominance forced a steep learning curve early in his career.
Globally, Nobody Has To Know continues to rack up accolades. The track peaked at No. 44 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and earned RIAA Gold certification in the US in 2019, while reaching Platinum status in Canada. With additional UK Silver plaques for We Can (feat. Tory Lanez), Gal Policy, and Wiley’s My One, Kranium’s catalogue reflects quiet longevity rather than fleeting hype. Now operating independently after leaving Atlantic Records in 2023, the Gold UK certification feels less like a late arrival—and more like a full-circle moment for an artist finally defining success on his own terms.
