Businessman 34-year-old Kris Rosado made his second appearance today before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court in connection with the fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of police officer Arcenio Cus. Rosado appeared around 9:30 a.m. before the Chief Magistrate where he was provided with full disclosure in the case, some seven weeks after his initial arraignment. The disclosure consists of 108 pages of documents, 21 photographs, and five DVDs, representing the complete body of evidence the prosecution intends to rely on. Rosado was first arraigned on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, and faces multiple charges arising from the fatal incident. These include one count of manslaughter by negligence, one count of causing death by careless conduct, driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, failing to stop and render aid, and failing to report an accident. The charges stem from a fatal road traffic incident that occurred on Monday, July 28, 2025, between Miles 5 and 6 on the Philip Goldson Highway in Ladyville. Police allege that Rosado, while driving a black 2009 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, caused the death of Officer Cus through the negligent use of a motor vehicle. Investigators further allege that Rosado did not immediately report the accident to police and failed to render assistance at the scene. No plea was taken from Rosado during today’s court appearance, and there was no objection to bail from the prosecution. He remains out on bail in the sum of six thousand dollars, with two sureties of three thousand dollars each. Rosado’s next court date is set for January 27, when the matter is scheduled for a Preliminary Inquiry (PI). A PI is the stage at which the prosecution formally tenders statements and evidence gathered during the investigation to establish whether there is sufficient case for the matter to proceed to trial in the High Court. According to police reports, Officer Cus, a resident of Silver Creek Village, was riding a black motorcycle from Ladyville toward Belize City when a black vehicle allegedly entered his lane and collided with him, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle. He sustained fatal injuries to the head and lower abdomen and was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination confirmed that he died from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries consistent with a road traffic accident. At the conclusion of the police investigation, all evidence was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, which, on November 11, 2025, directed that the charges be brought against Rosado.
