Labour Shortage Hampering BPOs

President of the Global Services Association of Jamaica, GSAJ, Wayne Sinclair, says one of the biggest challenges facing the business process outsourcing industry is the shortage of labour.

His comments follow recent data from the Statistical Institute of Jamaica, STATIN, which revealed a 0.4 per cent decline in the business services sector between January and March this year.

Sinclair notes that sourcing skilled workers is an issue industry players continue to grapple with.

He points out that in addition to the skills gap, there are concerns around work ethic and discipline among some prospective employees.
