After years of tension, both in direct exchanges and through lyrical clashes, dancehall icons Lady Saw, now known as Marion Hall, and Tanya Stephens have officially mended fences.

The long-awaited truce unfolded aboard the recently held Love & Harmony Cruise.

According to Hall, the reconciliation happened unexpectedly outside an elevator, where Tanya Stephens approached her with open arms and said, “Let us get over this because it has been too long.” Lady Saw said she has been “talking to God” about their relationship after learning that she was also billed to perform on the cruise.

The two stalwarts of Jamaican music immediately embraced and even went in for a second hug, sealing a genuine end to one of dancehall’s most talked-about rivalries.

The feud between the two artists dates back to the late 1990s and early 2000s, fueled by differing musical styles, industry competition, and a series of lyrical clashes. While Lady Saw more explicit unapologetic dancehall expression, Tanya Stephens became known for her conscious, thought-provoking lyrics, differences that often placed them at odds during their rise.

There was however a time when both artist collaborated to keep other woman out of the industry. Particularly on the track “Bruck Dem Out,” which Tanya confessed was done to attack Lady G.

In 2022 Tanya referred to Lady Saw’s manipulating her into joining the feud saying, “When me jus a come inna the business the demon used to complain bout Lady G, after G the demon moved on to me. Then came a host of others…”

Following that 1999 diss track again at Lady G, Lady Saw then recorded a song titled Way Back produced by Patrick Roberts and Shocking Vibes said to be a diss to Tanya.

In that song Saw encouraged the subject of the song to go bak to Heineken Star Time, “I notice you throwing a lot fo words you think  me never did a observe.”
