Lawrence Rowe is in more legal problems.

He has been charged with assault over an alleged altercation with an elderly woman.

It’s his second run-in with the law in just under two months.

Shaloy Smikle reports.

Lawrence Rowe switched allegiance to the JLP earlier this year.

This after he was booted as PNP caretaker for Central Kingston.

But it appears Lawrence Rowe, who addressed Labourites at a JLP meeting on Sunday, was just released on bail.

Commanding Officer for the Kingston Central Division, Superintendent Berrisford Williams, says Rowe was reportedly engaged in an altercation with an elderly woman during which she was pushed.

The senior fell, sustaining injuries to one of her knees.

Rowe was charged on Friday, July 18, with assault occasioning bodily harm.

He was granted bail that same day.

He is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Thursday, July 31.

It’s the second time that Rowe is being charged with assault.

Just last month, the controversial politician was released on bail after being charged with assault at common law and assault occasioning bodily harm.

Those charges stemmed from an incident in Central Kingston in which Rowe claimed he was threatened and physically assaulted by PNP supporters.

Rowe then filed a complaint with the police that his life was threatened by a certain PNP supporter in the constituency.

It turns out that the same supporter went to the police and reported that Rowe assaulted him during their altercation.

Meanwhile, Nationwide News has obtained a copy of Lawrence Rowe’s report to the police.

In the the report, dated July 18, Rowe says he was verbally and physically assaulted by a woman on July 12 at about 1:25PM in the vicinity of Heroes Circle.

Rowe reports that he was walking to a shop with two of his friends when a woman began to speak with him in an aggressive tone, telling him to stop looking in her direction.

But according to Rowe, he was only greeting another woman.

Still, the woman reportedly continued shouting and proceeded to hurl expletives at him.

Rowe says he was prompted to record the woman after she began walking towards him.

The woman then went back to where she was sitting and picked up a bottle of water and a bottle of pepsi.

Rowe reports that the woman splashed the water towards him and some of it caught his face.

He says another individual then told the woman to splash more water.

Rowe says he then pushed the woman’s hand away, causing her to lose balance and fall.

He told the police that the woman then got up and went for some broom sticks that were wrapped together.

According to him, she swung it at him but missed.

She subsequently told him that she was going to file a police report.
