Following an in-depth discussion about the Leadership Intervention Unit (LIU) during the national budget debate, the future of the program remains uncertain. Love News has confirmed that LIU Chairperson Dominique Noralez has left Belize to pursue further studies. Noralez was awarded a scholarship to complete a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies through the Helmut Schmidt Programme in Public Policy and Good Governance at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg in Germany. Her departure to attend the two-year program has left a sudden gap in the LIU’s leadership. Notably, Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa has spoken highly of the LIU’s mission and goals, emphasizing its critical role in youth development and community engagement. A large portion of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ yearly budget was allocated to the LIU, as highlighted during the recent debate.
Our newsroom has been able to confirm that the acting chairperson is Andrew Dawson who was the LIU program manager.
