Lee Issa to develop multi-family residences in Negril

2 months ago 8

Businessman and hotelier Elias ‘Lee’ Issa has received approval from the National Environment and Planning Agency, NEPA, to construct a multi-family development in Negril.

While details on the project are sparse, the approval from NEPA signals progress towards increasing the housing stock in Negril, a popular tourist destination with growing residential demand by hospitality workers.

The residential development is slated for Rutland Pen, Norman Manley Boulevard, NEPA noted in its publication of approvals for permits.

Issa, a well-known figure in Jamaica’s tourism, real estate and retail sectors, did not immediately respond to queries on the project.

He already operates the Couples Resorts chain, which includes four boutique all-inclusive properties in Negril and Ocho Rios. He was also the developer of the Richmond Estates, a residential complex, in St Ann.

Issa’s business interests also extend to Lee’s Fifth Avenue, one of Jamaica’s oldest department stores; and he founded Ellesco Jamaica, a company specialising in the distribution of electric bikes and warehouse equipment.
