Fifty-year-old Sidney Lewis Peyrefitte, the man accused of murdering well-known street figure and businessman Kenneth “Big Tom” Flowers, returned to court today for the third time as the matter continues its slow progression through the Magistrate’s Court. Peyrefitte, a Belizean tour guide employed with Exotic Shore Excursion and a resident of Sunset Park appeared this morning before the Chief Magistrate where the case was adjourned once again. He is now scheduled to return to court on May 26. Peyrefitte was first arraigned on October 8, 2025, when he was formally read a single charge of murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Kenneth Llewelyn Flowers, also known as “Big Tom.” Because murder is an indictable offence, no plea was taken and bail was denied at that time.
Police allege that on Monday, October 6, 2025, Flowers was driving near the corner of Mopan and Mahogany Streets in Belize City when Peyrefitte allegedly fired several shots at him. Flowers reportedly continued driving onto Sittee Street, where he crashed into another vehicle, exited his car, and later collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Investigators believe the killing may have been motivated by a personal dispute. Peyrefitte remains on remand at the Belize Central Prison as the case moves toward the next stage of proceedings.
