Twenty-six-year-old Edward James Saldano is out on bail tonight after being arraigned on two counts of contempt of judicial order. Saldano allegedly failed to sign in at the Racoon Street Police Station on July 4, July 8, and July 15, as required by his June 9 bail for unlicensed firearm and ammunition offenses. He is also accused of violating his 7 PM to 7 AM curfew on July 17. Initially, Saldano pleaded guilty, claiming he sent medical documents. However, the court found inconsistencies between the dates on his documents and the dates of his alleged non-compliance. Saldano, an LIU worker from Euphrates Avenue, told the court he has other documents and had been feeling unwell, which prevented him from attending. He denied intentionally defying court orders and stated he is always home by 6 PM. The senior magistrate did not accept his guilty plea, entering a not guilty plea instead, and the case will proceed to trial. Saldano was granted $1,000 bail with the conditions of weekly police sign-ins, adherence to the 7 PM to 7 AM curfew, and remaining at his Gungulung address.
