Loaded Pistol Found During Belize City Police Patrol

Police recovered a loaded nine-millimetre pistol during a patrol on Central American Boulevard in Belize City on Wednesday.  Officers received information about a suspicious man reportedly hiding behind an abandoned concrete bungalow directly across from 95 Neal Penn Road Extension. Police searched the location but did not find anyone in the immediate area.  During a search behind the building, officers found a black Taurus G2C nine-millimetre pistol concealed beneath dry, cut grass. The firearm contained a magazine with five live rounds, while another live round was found in the chamber.  Scenes of Crime personnel processed the area before the weapon, magazine and ammunition were secured and transported to the Faber’s Road Police Station. The items were labelled, sealed and submitted as evidence for forensic examination.  No one was detained in connection with the discovery. Police investigations continue.
