A 20-year-old Lords Bank Village resident is behind bars tonight after a bench warrant was executed against him. Oscar Alexander Galindo appeared at the Belize City Magistrate Court this morning to inquire about his case, unaware that a warrant for his arrest had been issued earlier this month after he failed to appear at a previous hearing. Galindo was initially arraigned on April 8, 2024, on four traffic offenses, including manslaughter by negligence and causing death by careless conduct. These charges stem from a fatal accident on April 6, 2024, that killed 19-year-old Denia Ashanti Rowland. Police say Rowland was a passenger in a vehicle Galindo was reportedly driving that flipped multiple times, ejecting her. Galindo told the court he had an August adjournment date but couldn’t remember it. He has been remanded to Belize Central Prison until his next court hearing on September 5.
