ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Leeward Islands Hurricanes pacer Jeremiah Louis has been discharged from hospital after being struck in the head by Trinidad and Tobago Red Force fast bowler Jayden Seales on Tuesday.
Louis was hit on the helmet by a delivery from Seales on the third day of their second-round encounter in the West Indies Championships at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua.
He was immediately attended to by medical personnel and subsequently transported to hospital to be evaluated for a possible concussion.
The incident led to the match being abandoned after it was determined that the pitch was unfit and dangerous.
A statement issued by Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Wednesday revealed that Louis had been released from hospital after no injuries were found.
“Leeward Islands Hurricanes’ Jeremiah Louis was discharged from hospital yesterday evening after his CT scan returned clear results.
“The Leeward Islands Hurricanes medical team, who have been in ongoing communication with Cricket West Indies, will monitor him closely over the next 48 hours,” the statement read.
“A further assessment will be carried out before the squad is announced for the next match scheduled to begin at the Antigua Recreation Ground on Sunday.”
