LPG Prices Drop Across Belize Following New Controlled Price Adjustment

Belizeans are paying less for Liquefied Petroleum Gas, or LPG, following the introduction of new controlled prices that took effect today, July 15. The Supplies Control Unit says the adjustment represents a decrease of forty cents per gallon for the current shipment, driven primarily by a reduction in the acquisition price.  Under the new price structure, LPG in urban areas is being sold at one dollar and thirty-six cents per pound, or five dollars and ninety-three cents per gallon. The controlled price applies in Belize City, Belmopan, San Ignacio, Benque Viejo del Carmen, Orange Walk, Corozal, Dangriga and Punta Gorda. Consumers in rural areas will pay one dollar and thirty-eight cents per pound, or six dollars and three cents per gallon. The import wholesale price has been set at four dollars and thirty-three cents per gallon across all six districts.  The Supplies Control Unit says the controlled prices for imported LPG are based on the required seventy-thirty propane-to-butane mixture, in accordance with Belize’s national standard for liquefied petroleum gas.
