Justice Minister Devesh Maharaj and Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander at a post-Cabinet press briefing. - JUSTICE Minister Devesh Maharaj says investigations by the Police Complaints Authority (PCA) into police-involved fatal shootings in Tobago in April and May are ongoing.
He made the comment in response to a question from Opposition Senator Melanie Roberts-Radgman in the Senate on October 29.
Maharaj said one probe involved the shooting of Ronell Marcelle, 34, on April 25.
The other involved the shooting of Frank Allen Sammy, 74, on May 30.
In the former, Maharaj said the PCA had advised that it had obtained the police investigative file with witness statements, video footage, post-mortem certificate and other documents.
But he added certain information remained outstanding.
In the latter, Maharaj said the PCA had advised that extracts from the relevant records from the police had been obtained.
"Interviews were conducted and a witness statement has been obtained."
But he added there was other outstanding information to be provided to the PCA in that matter as well.
