Chairman of the WISYNCO Group, William Mahfood, says the decision to establish a brewery and distillery is based on increased business confidence in the Jamaican economy.
Mr Mahfood acknowledged that the economy has faced some headwinds over the past six months.
But according to him, the medium- to long-term economic prospects are positive.
Mr Mahfood said the move to become a competitor in the beer market will provide jobs.
