A man who stopped to urinate along the highway was abducted, beaten, robbed, and then abandoned on the side of the road in Siparia, over the weekend.

According to reports, around 5:30 pm on Saturday, a 37-year-old man from Morne Diablo was on his way home in his white Nissan B14 from a friend’s house when he stopped to urinate along the southbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near the Diamond Flyover. Shortly after he stopped, a white van pulled up, and two masked individuals approached him, claiming to be police officers. They ordered the man to return to his car.

Once in the car, the suspects began beating him, tied his hands with straps, and covered his mouth. They then drove him to Quinam Road, Siparia, where they abandoned him on the side of the road.

The victim remained there until police arrived around 9:40 am on Sunday and freed him.

He was taken to the Siparia District Health Facility for treatment before being transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital for further care.

Later that day, officers found the victim’s car, still intact with the keys in the ignition, on a side road off Quinam Road, near Trincan.

Investigations are ongoing.
