36-year-old Stanley Flowers, the man accused of shooting a police officer in 2025, has been granted bail in the sum of fifteen thousand dollars with three sureties following a hearing before Justice Antoinette Moore in the Supreme Court. The court’s decision stems from an earlier directive issued by Justice Dixon, who had imposed an “unless order.” That order stipulated that if Flowers’ Preliminary Inquiry was not concluded before the end of February, he would be eligible for bail. During the proceedings held yesterday, Flowers was represented by attorney Leeroy Banner. The court found that the conditions outlined in the previous order had been met, as the Preliminary Inquiry was not completed within the specified timeframe. Flowers has been on remand since April 2025 after being denied bail in the lower court due to the seriousness of the charges against him. He faces multiple offences, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and use of deadly means of harm. The charges arise from a 2025 incident along the Philip Goldson Highway, where police responded to reports of an armed man near a nightclub. During that encounter, Flowers allegedly opened fire, injuring a police corporal, and reportedly discharged additional shots at pursuing officers before being apprehended.
