Thirty-three-year-old Takudzwa Kaseke is out on bail after being charged in connection with a fatal traffic incident that claimed the life of Marilyn Roches. The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on July 30, on South Ring Road in Belmopan, just in front of the Comprehensive High School. Kaseke was driving his motorcycle with Roches as the passenger when he reportedly lost control, causing the fatal crash. Today, he was arraigned in the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court on three offences, including manslaughter by negligence. Kaseke’s attorney, David McKoy, spoke on the charges and what’s next for his client.

David McKoy, Attorney: “My client basically was charged for manslaughter by negligence and he got two other charges which are minor charges but the main one is the manslaughter by negligence. He was arraigned. The magistrate informed him that he will not be taking any plea from him because it’s a matter that will be tried on indictment. That means it will go to the High Court. And so his matter is set for the 6th of October which he should, by then, get disclosure.”
Kaseke was granted bail in the sum of $7,000. Under the conditions, he is required to sign in at a designated police station once a week and surrender his travel documents to the court.
