A single stab wound to the neck led to the death of Sherwin Balkaran, who was found bleeding at the roadside near his home early yesterday.
Investigators said Balkaran, 40, of Naparima Mayaro Road, Princes Town, also had chop wounds to the body.
Investigators said around 5.50 am, a pensioner, of Railway Road, Princes Town, reported seeing a man lying motionless outside her home.
ASP Roland Ramlogan, Insp Alexander, Sgt Ramdial from Southern Division and WPC Valdez, of the Homicide division, visited the scene, along with PCs Smith, James and Thomas from the Princes Town Police Station. There, they met Glenford James, who identified the deceased.
Insp Alexander and other officers took statements from residents. However, police are treating the matter as a suspected homicide.
An autopsy will be done on the body today.
