Man Gunned Down While Resting in Hammock in Orange Walk

A 40-year-old man was gunned down in Orange Walk Town early yesterday morning while resting in a hammock.  The victim has been identified as Jose Luis Sosa Senior, also known as “Bones.” Police say Sosa was at the residence on Baeza Alley shortly after one o’clock when a Hispanic man approached and fired approximately ten shots in his direction. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says investigators are still working to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding the killing.

Police say the gunman was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, three-quarter-length blue jeans and a black helmet. After the shooting, he reportedly ran toward Staines Alley, where he boarded a dark-coloured motorcycle and escaped in the direction of Santa Ana Street.  Sosa was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his back but later succumbed to his injuries.
