Man held, cannabis seized in East Port of Spain

Police arrested a man and seized cannabis during an operation yesterday.

Between 11:00 p.m. on 19 August and 2:00 a.m. on 20 August 2025, Inter-Agency Task Force officers carried out a Roving Road Checks exercise in East Port of Spain. Acting on information, they positioned themselves along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway to intercept a vehicle suspected of transporting drugs.

The team stopped a silver Nissan B-15 near Grand Bazaar. After identifying themselves, officers searched the driver and the vehicle. They found two brown rectangular plastic wrappings containing 2,084 grammes of cannabis.

Police arrested the driver, a man from Farm Road, Diego Martin, and later charged him with possession of cannabis for trafficking.
