A 38-year-old Chaguanas man was killed yesterday morning, after gunmen ransacked his home.
Police reported that around 4 am, Arnold Singh, of Petersfield, was outside his home when two men, one armed with a gun, the other a cutlass, accosted him and forced him inside.
The gunmen then ransacked the home, looking for valuables. They then shot Singh once in the head before fleeing the location.
Singh was taken to the Chaguanas District Health Facility, where he was declared dead.
Speaking about the incident yesterday, Singh’s mother Susan said the killers used a pillow to muffle the gunshots.
“My child was too hard-working. He and he madame used to work hard. Whatever was the cause for this? He never hurt nobody, so what caused this, envy, jealousy?” she asked.
She said the killers took $1,000 she had in a purse and demanded money and jewels.
She said the killers spared her and it was only after they left that she was told by another relative that her son had been shot during the ordeal.
Investigations are continuing.
