Man Killed in Southern Belize as Police Detain Person of Interest

Elias Bejerano was killed over the weekend in southern Belize.  The resident of San Juan Cowpen in the Stann Creek District was reportedly on his way home when he met his demise and was killed.  According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero, they have detained a person of interest.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “On Saturday police responded to a chopping incident in the San Juan area. Upon their arrival they saw the lifeless body of a male person on the street. He was identified as Elias Bejarano. He was seen with several chop wounds to the body. Investigation is that Bejarano was going home from a bar in the area when he was attacked by a male person with a machete. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. We have one suspect in custody for this chopping incident.”
