Man shot dead in Wallerfield

A 49-year-old Arima man was shot dead at his Wallerfield home this morning.

Police reported that Kumar Balkissoon was found dead by his brother at his home on Yucatan Road, Wallerfield, Arima.

Police reported that they arrived at the man’s house at about 12:50 am and found him with gunshot wounds to the head. Balkissoon was found on the ground floor of his two-storey home.

Police recovered three spent 9mm shells at the scene.

Police were told that before Balkissoon was found, he was heard screaming before gunshots were heard. He was later found on the floor of his home with a multi-coloured blanket partially draped over him.

His killing took the murder toll to 237 for the year, compared to 246 for the same period last year.
