A Charlotteville man who smashed the police station’s front door with a gas tank last year returned today to break the recently repaired door once more.
Police said 43-year-old Jameel Thomas of Old Scheme Road appeared before the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court earlier in the day for the earlier incident. After the outcome of the matter, he travelled from Scarborough to Charlotteville and attacked the building again.
On October 13, 2024, Thomas became irritated while trying to make a report at the Charlotteville Police Station. He stormed out, then returned moments later with a gas tank and threw it at the front door, breaking the glass.
Officers chased and arrested him, and he was detained at the Roxborough Police Station before being charged with malicious damage. That case is still before the court.
Today, just before noon, Thomas allegedly attacked the building in what officers believe may have been an unprovoked outburst or a possible mental breakdown.
Armed again with a gas tank, he smashed the recently repaired front doors, causing an estimated $4,072.50 in damage.
He was arrested on the spot and taken to the Roxborough Police Station.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
