Manna Flour Mill Opens to Boost Local Wheat Production

A major stride toward national food security and agro-industrial expansion was marked yesterday with the inauguration of the Manna Flour Mill in Carmelita Village, Orange Walk. The project, led by Caribbean Organic Foodstuff Company Limited, establishes a modern, fully operational wheat-processing facility aimed squarely at reducing Belize’s dependence on imported flour. The inauguration, held at the Caribbean International Brewery Compound, brought together government officials, private-sector partners, community leaders, and agricultural stakeholders, all celebrating what is being described as a bold step in reshaping Belize’s agro-production landscape.  The Manna Flour Mill is designed to turn locally produced wheat into high-quality flour, giving Belize an unprecedented opportunity to expand its agriculture sector, enhance value-added production, and secure a local supply chain that strengthens both national resilience and economic growth.  Prime Minister John Briceño, who had visited the facility previously, underscored the significance of the mill as evidence that Belize is becoming one of the most promising investment environments in the region.

The Prime Minister noted that with projects like the Manna Flour Mill, Belize is positioning itself to stop the importation of flour and rely more heavily on local production, keeping revenue in the country while creating jobs and new market opportunities for Belizean producers.  The Caribbean Organic Foodstuff says the mill represents a long-term commitment to sustainable agricultural development, stronger food systems, and increased regional competitiveness. The mill is now officially open and ready for operation./
