Marathon Insurance recently renewed its deal with the Jamaica Olympic Association, JOA, to insure national sporting teams, the cadre of individuals serving as well as their belongings when competing at games.

Marathon increased its sponsorship to 15 million dollars, a 50 percent increase over last year’s figure, which Secretary General of the JOA, Ryan Foster, says is necessary in lieu of the teams’ expansion.

Foster says the financial backing from its sponsors also represent an endorsement in the organisation’s work.

He says the past year has seen the JOA embarking upon a number of partnerships with members of the corporate community, such as GraceKennedy and Red Stripe, for the purpose of advancing its mission of affording as many athletes from various sporting disciplines an opportunity to become Olympians.

Foster says In the same period they were able to renew their contracts with Supreme Ventures Limited and Mayberry Investments limited, who cited confidence in the governance of the JOA and its ability to deliver on the terms of the sponsorship as reasons for long term
renewal.

Ryan Foster.
