Veteran super-producer Clive Hunt is pleased his collaboration with French remix guru Snight B and reggae icon Marcia Griffiths and Tarrus Riley, to produce Make we Dance (Remix), has blasted into the Club40 Yacast official Charts in France.
The powerful cross-genre collaboration jumped 20 places to #13 on the popular club circuit in France. It is #5 on the New Songs listing all across Europe with hip hop and electronic and #6 on the Variety list with pop songs.
“The Make we Dance (Remix) has really performed well ... this is incredible,” a proud Clive Hunt beamed.
“I am very excited about the progress it is making. This is great for reggae artistes and myself to be involved in a song that is making waves in the French club circuit. Respect to Snight B for believing in the song and me. Big up Lamonte Savoury, a fabulous musician, and Omi who wrote the song for their efforts to make this song a reality.”
Club Yacast refers to a French website and community dedicated to club music charts and discussions. Hunt explained that the track had been gaining traction among club selectors all over the 100 most important clubs in France.
“The song is connected to the network of clubs in France, and it is getting airplay and they calculate the statistics based on analytics of the 100-most-important clubs in France. We hope that the buzz continues to grow,” Hunt said.
Hunt said that the remix came from the original idea of doing a song with Marcia Griffiths, legendary member of the I-Three, who sang with Bob Marley & The Wailers. However, he believed that the marketing of the track would benefit from a remix with European remix whiz Snight B.
The remix blends roots reggae and electronica and is a joyful celebration of rhythm and connection, bridging generations, styles, and continents. Snight B, who has more than 1.72 million listeners on Spotify and has racked up 12 million streams with his work, brought a fresh and melodic edge to the track. He is best known for his bold remix of Born to be Alive and the viral Dolce Camara Remix with French rap icon Booba which racked up 30 million plus streams in a year.
“I’m really honoured to see Make we Dance climbing the Yacast charts like this. Collaborating with legends like Marcia Griffiths and Tarrus Riley was already a dream come true, so knowing that the track is being so well received ... especially in a country like France that’s always supported reggae and dance music ... means a lot. Big up to Clive Hunt for bringing us together, and thanks to everyone who’s been showing love!” Snight B said.
Snight B revealed how he got involved in the project, explaining that his manager also works with Yaniss Odua and has been collaborating with Clive Hunt for years.
“That’s how Clive heard about my work and invited me to remix this Marcia Griffiths track. After I completed the remix, Tarrus Riley heard it at Clive’s studio and really connected with the vibe ... he immediately wanted to be part of the project. That spontaneous energy made the whole process even more special,” he said.
