Jamaican dancehall star Shenseea has unlocked a defining moment in her career, landing a high-profile feature on Mariah Carey’s latest single, “Sugar Sweet”, released Friday, July 25. The summer-ready anthem also features Kehlani and serves as the second official single from Carey’s highly anticipated 16th studio album, Here For It All, which is set for release on September 26 via Gamma. The track offers a vibrant blend of pop, R&B, and Caribbean textures, with Shenseea’s signature dancehall flair shining through. Speaking on the album during a recent Apple Music special, Carey described “Sugar Sweet” as “very summery,” adding that she was “very excited” about the single’s release.

This collaboration is another major co-sign for Shenseea, who continues to carve her path across the global stage. Her feature arrives just as she wraps up a 9-city European tour, which kicked off in Brussels and included stops in Paris, Cologne, Toulouse, Helsinki, Oslo, Stockholm, and The Hague, where she headlined Sunsplash Festival on July 13. Along the way, she also graced major reggae and dancehall events like Yardland Festival and Summerjam in Germany—cementing her presence as a cross-continental performer with broad appeal.

Adding to her impressive 2025 run is the viral success of the “Shake It To The Max (FLY)” remix, which sees her alongside Ghanaian-American singer Moliy, producer Silent Addy, and fellow dancehall star Skillibeng. The infectious genre-blending anthem climbed to No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Shenseea’s highest chart position to date, before slipping to No. 55 this week. The track was also ranked No. 19 on Billboard’s 50 Best Songs of 2025 So Far, lauded as “a genre-bending smash hit” and a soundtrack for the season’s sun-drenched festivities.

Fueling its success was a viral dance challenge and strong club and digital airplay, especially in the U.S. and UK. The remix also broke into the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart—making Shenseea the first Jamaican in nearly two decades to reach that milestone. It has since been certified silver in the UK, with over 200,000 combined sales and streams.

With a blockbuster tour, global festival stages, a chart-climbing remix, and now a career-defining collaboration with one of music’s most iconic voices, Shenseea is proving that her rise is no fluke. “Black music is important because it articulates the voices of our people,” she shared during Billboard’s Black Music Month tribute. “It’s been liberating, inspirational, motivational, historical and cultural.” And in 2025, she’s not just participating in the moment—she’s shaping it.
