More than six months after he was first charged for a fatal traffic accident on the Philip Goldson Highway, prominent Ladyville resident Mark Anthony Usher returned to court today only to face yet another adjournment in his case. Usher appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate, where the prosecution informed the court that it is still not in possession of the case file needed to provide disclosure to the accused. As a result, the matter could not move forward and was adjourned until July 22. The new court date has been set for disclosure to be provided. The repeated delays mean that despite being charged since December of last year, Usher has yet to receive the evidence the prosecution intends to rely upon in the case. Usher is accused of causing the death of Edwin Dalton Stamp in a traffic accident that occurred between miles four and five on the Philip Goldson Highway on November 28, 2025. According to the allegations, Usher was driving a Ford F-150 pickup when the fatal collision occurred. When he was first arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on December 1, 2025, Usher was read six offenses, including manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention, failing to report an accident, failing to stop and render aid, and driving with an alcohol concentration above the prescribed legal limit under the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act. No plea has been taken from Usher on any of the charges due to the indictable nature of the manslaughter allegation and the fact that the matter remains at the disclosure stage. Usher was granted bail in the sum of six thousand dollars plus two sureties of three thousand dollars each. As a condition of his bail, he must not be arrested or charged for any similar offenses while the case is pending before the courts. Usher is represented by attorney Kevin Arthurs and is expected to return to court next month, when prosecutors say they hope to finally provide the outstanding case file and disclosure package.
