As the new school year draws near, Casa de Corazon Children’s Home in Sangre Grande has received a timely and generous donation of US$8,500 from Marubeni Power International Inc. The contribution will significantly ease the financial burden of back-to-school preparations for the 15 children currently residing at the home.
The donation will fully cover the costs of school supplies and transportation for the children, who range in age from 4 to 17 and attend various schools. This initiative is part of Marubeni’s continued commitment to social welfare in Trinidad and Tobago, where the company has been a partner of PowerGen for over 18 years.
“Marubeni Power International is a company rooted in the communities where we operate, and we believe that being a good corporate citizen means actively investing in the well-being of others – especially our children, who represent the future,” said Mr. Mo Majeed, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director, Caribbean, Marubeni Power International Inc.
In addition to supporting school-related expenses, the donation has also allowed the home to acquire new furnishings, a much-needed printer, and a new washing machine, which will be particularly useful during the busy school term.
Lynette Serrette, Manager of Casa de Corazon, expressed her gratitude for the donation, highlighting both its practical and emotional impact. “The Administration of Casa de Corazon extends our heartfelt gratitude for the generous contribution made to our Home and the children. Marubeni’s act of kindness has encouraged and strengthened us in our mission, and it has certainly gone a long way in improving the quality of life for the children we serve.”
