Masicka Earns Third No. 1 On The US Reggae iTunes Chart With ‘Her Name Is Love’ EP

Jamaican dancehall lyricist Masicka’s second EP, Her Name Is Love, debuts at No. 1 on the US Reggae iTunes chart. The achievement marks the third No. 1 project of his career, following 438 and Generation Of Kings.

The eight-track EP is Masicka’s second release under Def Jam Recordings, and sees him taking on different dimension of his artistry — one that is more vulnerable, introspective, and emotionally open.

With this Her Name Is Love, Masicka steps into the holiday season away from the armor needed for dancehall’s tougher edges and allows listeners into a softer, more unfiltered space. The EP explores love not as an abstract idea, but as an everyday experience — intimate, imperfect, and deeply human.

In a series of evocative images sent to WMV, Masicka visually expands on the project’s emotional core. The imagery reveals a world where love is the main character, portrayed through moments that feel lived-in, tender, and emotionally charged. Set against the warm glow of ordinary domestic spaces — a kitchen at sunset, a washing machine repurposed as a makeshift seat, sun-kissed bedrooms, and gentle outdoor light — the visuals frame love not as fantasy, but as real life, real touch, and real connection.

The accompanying statement said, “Her Name Is Love stands as a romantic and sensual chapter in Masicka’s catalogue, celebrating intimacy, womanhood, and genuine connection.”

The project also highlights Masicka’s artistic growth since his debut. His first EP, The Start, from the Grung EP series, was released in 2018 and introduced audiences to his raw talent and hunger but it did not chart. Years later, Her Name Is Love shows an artist fully in command of his craft, confident enough to explore emotional depth without sacrificing lyrical strength or authenticity.
