Masicka Visits Nigeria, Confirms Third Studio Album to Be Released This Year During Interview

Fresh off his role on Keznamdi’s Grammy-winning Blxxd & Fyah album, dancehall heavyweight Masicka is charting a new chapter, this time on African soil. The Portmore hitmaker is currently in Nigeria for the first time, where he has been embracing the culture and confirming that his long-awaited third studio album is already completed and set for release later this year.

The update came during an interview at Lagos-based The Beat 99.9 FM with host Eve, where Masicka spoke candidly about his growing connection to Africa, praising the people, the energy and the striking cultural parallels with Jamaica. The visit follows his contribution to Blxxd & Fyah, which secured Best Reggae Album at the 68th Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 1, further cementing his position as one of dancehall’s most influential modern voices.

During the seven-minute exchange, Masicka also revisited the creative direction behind his recent EP Her Name Is Love, explaining that the project was intentionally crafted as a softer, more emotional counterbalance to his typically hard-edged catalogue. He confirmed that while fans are still unpacking the EP, his third album has been quietly finished, a project he initially teased last year before his high-profile lyrical clash with Tommy Lee Sparta.

The revelation adds another layer to an already dominant run. Even before the Grammy achievement, Masicka stood out as the only dancehall artist featured on two Best Reggae Album nominees, appearing on Keznamdi’s Blxxd & Fyah and Lila Iké’s Treasure Self Love. With Her Name Is Love topping the Jamaica Apple Music Top Albums Chart, strong international traction and a completed album waiting in the wings, Masicka’s Nigerian debut feels less like a visit and more like a strategic step into his next global chapter.
